Art of Murder: F.U.B.A.RArt of Murder: Fucked up beyond all recognition

This review was written by ex-staffer/cocksmoker Goiter.

Alrighty! This is very dirty and crusted with dried cranial fluids kind of grind. The type of music that really pisses off your neighbours, or so the officer told me.

The Nasum-influences on “Fucked up beyond all penis” are clear but never copy or rip-off said band off, they simply use a similar formula. The drums fire like machine-guns as the guitar and bass follow suit… then suddenly a groove drops in and your tits fall off.

Firstly, or actually thirdly, the sound here is pretty good, it’s obviously a demo, but each instrument including the vocals is audible and never turns into a blur or hiss of indistinguishable fuzz. The bass is loud and adds “a whole hell of alot o’heavy” especially during the slower, groovier parts. The riffs are fine and grindy, my only requests in this department would be going for a more devastating guitar-tone and a little more dynamics to the groovier elements (see Nasum).

The vocals are splendid in a throaty-shout kind of way though they have a tendency to be static when all tracks are taken into consideration. Some low growls or some variation in the delivery in general couldn’t hurt. Drumwise… think of an M-60 being fired next to your head. Not super-technical or anything, but pretty fast and wellplayed. There’s a few mistakes here and there but that is part of the charm of a young band that is in the process of developing it’s sound. On tracks like “All your fears” they’ve got it nailed.

I enjoyed this and will be interested to see how these guys will progress in the future. Grinded.
