Why even bother to write a review like this? From www.hardrockinfo.com:
"You check out what song it is and discover that they're still on the first one, while you thought it was the third or something....talk about long songs! This band is a bit "sick", and consist of members from several Stockholm, Sweden based death metal bands. And the thing that makes them a little sick is probebly the progressive elements I suppose, which often also includes female vocals (but that has nothing with the sickness to do). And just becuse I call it "sick" it dosen't necessarily mean that it's bad, becuse this is definetely o.k. to me. Progressive death metal you know....odd but cool!"
Or this, from www.metal.revolution.com:
"The Lustrate process is the brand new release from this extreme Swedish metal legendary band The Project Hate MCMXCIX. It’s an album that really kicks some hard pumping ass & blow you mind away.
If you have the time for over 60 minutes, than read further. All of the seven tracks on the album have it own brutality and aggression mixed with tons of diabolic and melodic sounds. The Lustrate Process starts with “Descend into the eternal pits of Possession”.
The track has the dominated male voice led by Jorgen Sandstrom combined with the soft and beautiful voice from the female vocalist Jonna Enckell.
Apart from that you are able to hear some heavy guitar riffs, thundering drums and at the end it has that the nü-metalish sound, which sounds pretty cool by the way. “The Locust Principles” is a song which is full of interesting vocals, some desperate and infernal sounds mixed with some angelical/diabolical elements.
All in all it’s a good release, but there are some tracks that maybe seem too long. But you can live with it if you are into to the extreme side of hell. Its s high speed intensity, and it’s like a fix of a drug, you just want to get more of. Or even as a rollercoaster because The Lustrate Process has many moods and atmosphere."
Sure, obviously they like us but the reviews pretty much say nothing. _________________

Reviews are coming in... From www.stalker.cd:
"Long titles, even longer songs – this seems to be the motto on „The Lustrate Process“, the sixth album of The Project Hate MCMXCIX and so already with the very first, almost 13-miunute long song “Descend into the Eternal Pits of Possession“ the band already exceeds the 3:30 sound barrier of a radio-compatible song. Radio airplay is surely not the main goal of this death metal band from Sweden who seem to have designed this record around the Ying Yang principle: on one side there are epic sounds with clean female vocals by Jonna Enckell, which are, however, pretty close to this horrible operatic tweeting, atmospheric keyboard segments and melodic guitars, on the other side it´s getting heavy with hammering drums, evil growls by Jörgen Sandström (and several guest singers including Amon Amarth´s Johan Hegg and Entombed´s L.G. Petrov) and heavy riffs, amongst others Mike Wead lets his fingers slide over the strings. In addition there´s one or the other electronic sample.
Maybe it´s a bit like the heavier version of Lacuna Coil or The Gathering. But in contrast to those bands you can´t really remember any of the songs on “Lustrate Process” later on. But maybe you only need some more time to “process” this album fully!?" 6.5/10.
Lacuna Coil and The Gathering?! Well, yeah - we have been over this before... We DO have a female vocalist in the band. That naturally makes us a Lacuna Coil or The Gatehring band... Things like these make me doubt the writer in question even listened to the album or just looked at the band photos. But hey, I'll give her the shadow of a doubt.
She says it best herself, this Kathleen Gransalke gal who wrote this. Obviously she conjured up this review after half a listen and somewhat understands so... Shame she didn't wait with the writing for another listen or 5. _________________

Go Norway!!
Well, there will always be less good reviews and reviewers, nothing to get upset about really. But in the end it looks bad for the band I guess..
But fuck it, who cares, not everybody can possibly like the album.
But one thing that got me thinking was when he/she wrote that we obviously didnt wanted to be played on the radio.. When the fuck did you hear a death metal song on the radio, haha.. It happens maybe once a year, but yeah, we missed that opportunity..too bad, we could have been rich and famous.. _________________ I stab your face... I STAB YOUR FACE!!!! |

I think the bit about "you can't remember any of the songs on "Lustrate Process" later on" tells you a lot about the person who wrote that pile of ! _________________ Cleanse the earth from filth.

Hey I just found this review. It was written by some American prick who thinks he's a Pulitzer Prize-worthy writer:
| Quote: | I've noticed lately that you run into music every day that was produced with absolutely no effort except for tweaking Auto-tune and adding the same beat and riff over and over again. And they make millions of dollars, with their pieces of plastic in every possible location from the gas-station in the middle of nowhere to the check-out counter at the grocery store.
Here I sit, with my headphones on, listening to the new album by The Project Hate MCMXCIX: The Lustrate Process. Why was I musing over finding music next to the Hershey and Clark bars and condoms? Because I think this is the perfect alternative to a craving for something pleasurable. You know deep down inside that the chocolate will temporarily give you that ecstasy feeling (unless you're Swiss), so if enough people grabbed this instead of the chocolate then every time they got this craving for something that brings pleasure they'd play the album. It'd save a lot of money, too. Good chocolate is fucken expensive. Same with condoms.
My experience with TPH goes back almost two years. They had just released "In Hora Mortis Nostrae" and a clip I heard from an unrelated music forum floored me. It was big, heavy, and beautiful. Not knowing anything about them I did find it on iTunes and played it frequently. I was losing interest in very heavy music at the time but that refueled my addiction. I couldn't help but think it was one of the best releases I had heard for a long, long time. Even better, I found an online community run by none other than the creator of this fine music. Go figure, an artist that goes all out creating some fine music and takes the time to chat and be involved with his fans. More people need to take some notes from Lord K. Philipson. He may be a cocky bastard, but he's more than proven he has every right to be such a person.
"The Lustrate Process" is something very special to me in more than just being an amazing album. I got this CD directly from Lord K. I didn't go through the label (he did) or a retail store. Nope, I sent a request and money directly to the artist and received it within a week of shipment. Do you think if you asked Metallica to send you a disc directly from them they'd do it, even if you payed them? I didn't think so. My shirt even had cat hair all over it. I hate cats but it shows he's doing it all himself, so color me pleased. I paid more money to get it this way but it certainly increases the experience and is therefore worth it. You get what you pay for, premium awesome.
That, I guess, will lead me into the music itself. From the opening bass and guitar riffing it begins the deposition of "IHMN" with a vengeance. Speaking of the bass, it's a throwback (if you want to call it that) to the bass of "Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate". You have no virtuosic noodling from Mikael as Lord K took over the duties for this album. That means you've got yourself heavy, dirty bass. And for this album it's just perfect. It'd be interesting to hear it with Mikael on bass but we'll just have to wait for the next album.
"Descend into the eternal pits of possession" is the longest song and you're treated to a nice techno-break at the end which gets heavier until "You come to me through hell" begins. That was one of the two songs released to the public before release and I've heard it more than the rest. Slap me with a couple thousand pink dildos, I forgot to mention that we've got some more guest vocalists this time around. They include Martin Van Drunen, L.G. Petrov, Christian Älvestam, and Johan Hegg. Their place in each song next to Jörgen and Jonna is perfect. Okay, I realized that I really hate doing track by track analysis of songs. I had about two different draft paragraphs explaining the highlights of each song making each song out to be the best one on the album. You can't have 7 of the best songs on one album, can you? Fuck, that's a lot of writing and because I'm such a fun guy I'm also suffering from a terrible hangover. It's not like I'm explaining something important like the intricate detail of the veins on my penis.
"Descend Into the Eternal Pits of Possession": I love how this song begins. Far and away better than the start of IHMN, it doesn't just straight out skull-fuck you here, it at least lubes up a bit first. It's all familiar TPH territory and then some. It's in my mind one of the better tracks on the whole album, but it's pointless to say one that's best since each successive song contains one of those riffs that makes you forget the awesome riffs in the previous songs. Did I mention there's some blast beats? There are blast beats. The riffing/keyboard from 8:20 - 8:51 along with the ending techno from 10:29 - finish are the highlights of the song for me. Breaths of fresh air.
"You Come to Me Through Hell": I've heard this song many times and is the perfect followup. When I first heard it I wasn't sure about it's place in the album, was it going to be the only good song, was it going to be the worst? It's got Mike Wead's leads (if those actually rhyme, awesome -- if not, ...) which are a pleasure throughout the album. The dual-vocals of Christian Älvestam and Jonna is a surely nice surprise. It's a bit of a shame it's not more than a short time, though. Was I complaining? Shit.
"See the Filth Become Flames in This Furnace": Come sun, come blood, come carnage. My favorite line of the song, both because of it's place with the riff and being the phrase on the back of my shirt. It goes right from a more upbeat riff into a quick little blast and some more evil. A truly great song as the whole album has been thus far.
"Our Wrath Will Rain Down from the Sky": Ahhh, piano. K, you are such a lovely player. I think you should release a whole album with you on piano and Vanessa Carlton on vocals. Oh, you already had that idea? Recognizable should be the beginning riffs from the preview videos released. That short riff at 1:54... it sounds so familiar and I cannot place it. This song contains my favorite parts from 5:15 - 6:17 (so fucken beautiful, I cannot stress enough) and 7:03 - end. That muthafucken riff and the solo is THE highlight of the album for me.
"The Locust Principles": While the previous song contained the overall highlight for me, this song is what I will arbitrarily say is my favorite. I love the dubbed "possessed" vocals. I will use the word ace to describe it. Ace. It also starts off with a good fucken solo, extra points. And some more hellish vocals from van Drunen.
"Arise to His World of Infamy": I think I hear Johan Heggggggggg. I can't remember if I heard him more on the album at this point (I have but I can't remember where), but I definitely know that's his voice in here, and I love it. Let's arbitrarily choose my least favorite track as this one. Personal taste, and it's still better than songs on previous albums but I find this to be my least favorite on this masterpiece It's sandwiched in between to fucken amazing tracks so maybe that's why. Yeah, that's why.
"The Burial of Gods": This here is the Kyra Sedgwick song, the Mrs. Kevin Bacon, the closer. The riff at 2:48 is a definite highlight but I've already stated my pick for the best riff. It's short and sweet, but damn it it's too short, damn it. TOO SHORT!!! Just kidding, it's fucken perfect. 5:37 starts another one of my favorite Jonna moments. Her voice is so perfect with this music. Great end to a great album.
There, I did my own track by track analysis. You may find more informative, detailed ones, but mine is just fine. As for the standards -- being Jörgen, Jonna, Thomas, Anders, and Lord K -- they bring out their best performances possible. Jörgen proves yet again why he is the best growler, and it's not fucken TPH without Jörgen. His pic in the booklet is also vvveeeeeeeeeeeerryy serious, from what I am told. I really like Thomas' drumming, and the drumsound is killer. I really like the sound of the toms and I don't know why. Anders and K know how to write riffs and write them mighty fine.
Only one band in my eyes deserves a review this long and I just gave it to them. They brought me into this site hook, line and penis. I have never looked back. I have yet to be let down by the music. The best fucken band and the rest of the world doesn't even realize it. |
It sounds like he likes it. |

Fuck, that was a long review, but well worth the read, and yeah, credit were its due,the lord dose look after his fans, and really makes time for them, which with the great music that he produces for them as well, makes it such a privilege to belong to such a great community as the Hate. The man who wrote that one has sure got great taste.

Finland's biggest metal site Imperiumi has published a review on TLP:
http://www.imperiumi.net/index.php?act=albums&id=9302
Not very flattering. If K wants a translation I can make a quick sketchy one, just ask. _________________

They never liked us so fuck'em. What pisses me off though is that you can't give this album a 3 out of 10, no matter what kind of music you prefer.

I can't remember a single instance where Imperiumi.net would've given a good score for a Swedish extreme metal band. Suppose it's the ancient, bitter little brother/big brother jealousy thing. They just can't face the fact that our western neighbor produces much better music than us.
And the guy openly admits that he doesn't even like TPH-style music at all. How very objective point of view. _________________ Uhr-Nazuur |

Well, Necrophobic's new album got 8/10, Vomitory's new 8,5/10, Sanctification 7,5/10, Thornium 8/10...could be the wrong guy reviewing the album, as simple as that.

So what? Isn't reviewing music always something subjective? The daily GD updates certainly aren't objective, and that's why they rule.
(And just for the record, I don't share the Imperiumi reviewer's sentiments towards TLP.) _________________

I can not read what this person has had to say about "TLP" due to being a England-er. But what he has had to say about the new album has obviously pissed you guys off. If he don't like the album then that's his fuckin problem as he surly doesnt know good music, even if it came up to him and slapped him in the face.
