Hehe. The album has “cum” in its title. Cum. Now that I’ve gotten that little speck of immaturity out of the way, let’s get it on.
This is very depressing shit to listen to. And I like that, so that makes me happy. Right… how does that work? I like it a lot, and that’s how it works, baby. What I am reviewing here is some raw but finely produced black metal. This is another of the albums that no one other than myself wanted to review. I’m glad it came to this, because I like this album quite a lot.
This piece is kinda similar to Dissection’s “Storm Of The Light’s Bane”. But it’s not a clone, so comparing this with Dissection is like comparing an apple to a banana. In both cases, the items in question both belong to the same genre, but have produced different outcomes. But I can see Dissection influences without any questions.
I said this is depressing, right? The guitars sound very cold for sure, and the vocals do nothing to take away the sorrow (even if they do tend to sound a little silly at times). Well, if the guy isn’t singing about sunshine and rainbows, then of course not. And he doesn’t exactly sing like Barry White or Avril Lavigne either. He exhibits the usual black metal wail that adds to the cursed icing of the cake. He (or she) sounds quite like an ungodly witch (as if witches were ever godly in the first place) on crack.
Most of these songs are pretty long, but that’s fine if you have the patience to sit through some “epic” black metal. Each song is like a large ocean of depressive and sorrowful bliss. Funnily enough, the sound reminds me of an ocean for some reason. This method of depressive atmosphere is to simply drown and crush the listener with sadness and lovely stuff like that.
The sound on this goat is very soothing. Soothing like a nice beer with breasts. It’s not a smooth sort of soothing though. It’s very grating. The texture of the sound surface is very rough, like a combination between a cheese grater and a rock. In case this did not make sense, I’d say the rock is very far from smooth.
8 lumpy depressing little things out of 10.
